Alison was privately tutored between the ages of 4 and 17 by the renowned Mr John E Roper, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and the Guild Hall School of Music.
When she reached the age of 13, she gained a Distinction in her Grade 8 Electronic Organ exam followed by Distinctions in her Grade 8 Violin and Piano exams. Alison went on to study A-Levels in Music and Music technology and Grade 8 Theory and then, after a lengthy audition with Professor Peter Aston at the University of East Anglia, she was accepted on a BA Honours Degree course in Music to major in conducting in her final year, to which she gained a 2:1 Honours degree in 2003. During her time at university, Alison auditioned for a music scholarship which she won, and was able to hone and take further, her skills on the violin.
Today, Alison has many strings to her bow; she operates her own successful music school which she founded in 2004; AMS Music Tuition, and was appointed a Music Examiner at the London College of Music in 2010, serving both on their grade and diploma panels.
